Privacy policy
This site has no accounts and asks for nothing about you. It does use your location, with your permission, and it does show advertising. Here is exactly what that means.

The short version
We do not ask for your name, email address or any account. The details you enter about your pet never leave your browser. Your location is used to find parks and build a walking route, and it is not stored on our servers. Advertising is served by Google, which sets its own cookies.
What you type about your pet
Species, breed, age, weight, activity level and schedule are saved in your browser's local storage so the form is still filled in when you come back. That data stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.
The whole plan — distances, calories, food adjustment — is calculated in your browser. Nothing about your pet is sent anywhere to produce it.
Your location
The map asks for your location only when you press the button, and your browser will prompt you before anything happens. You can refuse and search for a place name instead. Two different things then happen with the coordinates:
- Finding nearby parks. Your coordinates are deliberately rounded to three decimal places — about 110 metres — before they are sent to our server. That is precise enough for a three-kilometre park search and too coarse to identify an address.
- Building a walking route. This needs your actual starting point, so full precision is sent, in the body of the request rather than in the URL, and used only to calculate that route.
In neither case do we store your coordinates in a database. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server request logs, described below.
Services this site contacts on your behalf
To find green spaces and build routes, our server queries free, community-run mapping services. Those requests come from our server, not from your browser, so your IP address is not shared with them:
- OpenStreetMap Overpass API — searching for parks, dog parks and woodland.
- Nominatim — turning a place name you type into coordinates.
- Valhalla, hosted by FOSSGIS — calculating the walking route itself.
Map tiles are the exception: those are loaded directly by your browser from OpenStreetMap, which means your IP address is visible to them, as it would be with any image on any website. This also applies to the route image when you save one.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser user agent — for security, abuse prevention and debugging. We use the same information to enforce rate limits so the free mapping services above are not overwhelmed.
Advertising and cookies
This site carries advertising to cover its costs. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies at aboutads.info.
- If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will be asked for consent before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Because we hold no account and no database of visitors, most of what this site knows about you is already under your own control: clearing your browser data removes what is stored locally, and your browser settings control the location permission. For anything held in server logs, contact us using the details below.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
